Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evluate the characteristics of the evaporation of various kinds of dental adhesive by the measurement of evaporation rates and rates of volatile parts of adhesives.

Materials and Methods: OptiBond FL (Kerr, FL), CLEARFIL SE BOND (Kuraray, SE), OptiBond S (Kerr, OS), and OptiBond All-In-One (Kerr, OA) were used in this study. Adhesive was dispensed on slide glass and weighted by precision balance. Adhesive was dried for 10 sec and 30 sec and then weighted. Until the weight of the adhesive became constant, adhesive was stored in dark oven and then weighted. The results were statistically analyzed using One way ANOVA and Scheffe test.

Results: The longer drying time had better results and the evaporation rate of OA and the rate of volatile part of FL were significantly higher than other groups (p<0.05).

Conclusion: Therefore, evaporation characteristics of the solvent should be considered when using the dental adhesive.
